Havovi has a dual bachelor’s degree in music and psychology from Ohio State University. She went on to receive her master’s in music therapy from New York University in 2022. Havovi is a board certified music therapist and recently acquired her Nordoff-Robbins Level 1 certification. Havovi is working towards her LCAT and holds a limited permit. Currently, she is a music therapist at Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, where she sees individual clients and leads group music therapy sessions in NYC public schools.
While Havovi is primarily a flutist, she also plays trumpet and loves all brass instruments. She loves learning new instruments and strives to understand each instrument’s role in a variety of genres. In pursuit of this goal, she studies electric bass, guitar, and piano. Havovi is also extremely passionate about jazz and improvisational music; she constantly seeks out opportunities to further her understanding of this art form while living in New York City.
Havovi recently began exploring Indian classical music, studying sitar and Carnatic vocals. As a first generation Indian American, she is eager to learn more about her culture and connect with music through this artistic lens. Havovi loves that there are so many different layers that make up her musical identity, and she thoroughly enjoys nurturing and exploring each one.
Over the last 7 years, Havovi has worked with many students of all ages to help them accomplish their musical goals and develop their unique musical identities. She is thrilled to begin this journey with her partner Ben and looks forward to creating and sustaining Colbrook Music together!
